Shared Branching Makes for “Winning” Summer Travels

Here are some ways that Shared Branching makes traveling this summer a breeze!

So you won big in Vegas? You can deposit your winnings right into your Savings Account (and bypass the other slot machines)!

If your Vegas trip takes another, less lucrative direction, there are 17 Shared Branching locations within 10 miles!

If your novice surfing skills result in a lost wallet in Hawaii, a tropical Shared Branch will help to keep your vacation sunny!

Wherever you go – a stolen debit card doesn’t have to steal your entire trip. A Shared Branching location is an easy way to get cash fast – after a call to your credit union to make sure your account info stays safe, of course.

Or, if your travels include a large purchase of an item bought online, a quick visit to a Shared Branch at your destination saves you the need to travel with a large quantity of cash.

Wherever you go and whatever you do, it’s easy to find a Shared Branch in Maine or nationwide!

Seth Poplaski is Maine’s First Young & Free Spokesperson!

On June 10, in a surprise party in his honor, Maine’s Credit Unions announced that Seth is the 2011 Young & Free Maine Spokesperson!

Seth is a 2009 graduate of the University of Maine, and a Bangor resident. While he is currently employed at the Texas Roadhouse, he will be now trading in his cocktail shaker for some great new gear, including a Mac Book Pro and HD video camera – not to mention use of a new car for his year as our Young & Free spokesperson.

A longtime credit union member, Seth’s outgoing personality and journalism background prompted friends, family and even credit union employees to encourage him to apply for the position. In his campaign, Seth drew on his love of sports, coffee and all things Maine to connect with his fellow Gen Y-ers.

From a video featuring his slack lining technique, to reaching out to local media, Seth proved that he has the writing skills, on-air presence and ability to communicate with Maine’s 25 and under crowd that make him an obvious choice for this exciting new opportunity.

Welcome Seth! Be sure to follow Seth’s adventures in this new position at www.youngfreemaine.com

NorState FCU Member Wins Cash For Sharing Unique Money Saving Tip!

‘Sharing’ has taken on a new meaning for one Maine credit union member, who recently won $250 for her winning entry in Maine Credit Unions’ Shared Branching Savings Tip Competition. NorState FCU member Nancy Dumand Violette of Van Buren, ME is the competition’s May winner for sharing this tip:

“Instead of buying wrapping paper for birthdays or holidays, hide the gifts and give the receiver clues to find.”

The competition is part of a Shared Branching Campaign by Maine’s Credit Unions. Credit unions throughout the state are involved, directing members to a microsite, ShareItAndSave.org, where they can share their own financial tip. Each month, the member who shares the most unique tip will be awarded $250! The site also features a Shared Branch Locator, with which users can enter an address or intersection to find the three closest Shared Branches.

Click here to share your savings tip, and the next winner could be you!
